Manitoba started issuing new invitations to Express Entry candidates in 2019

Manitoba issued a total of 626 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence on 17 January, 2019 in its first draw of 2019.  

Manitoba is one of nine Canadian provinces that take part in Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which allows participating provinces to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for permanent residence each year.

• 394 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) went to candidates in its Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, including an unspecified number to Express Entry candidates who have registered an Expression of Interest profile with the MPNP.

• 232 candidates are invited in the MPNP’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education streams. 200 LAAs issued to Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates with scores as low as 650.

• Make up your mind first and be firm on your decision. Hence, my advice to you is never have a half mind, BE CLEAR & BE FIRM.

Permanent resident (PR) of Canada and its benefits

Permanent residency (PR) of Canada is a status granted to someone who is not a Canadian citizen and he / she has the right to live and work in Canada without any time limit on their stay. To become a permanent resident of Canada, a foreign national must apply under one of several programs (which we will cover in our next blog). 

Benefits of PR: A permanent resident holds many of the same rights and responsibilities as a Canadian citizen, including the right to live, work and study in any part of Canada.  Permanent residents participate in many of the social benefits that Canadian citizens receive, including Canadian pension and receiving coverage from their universal health care system. All permanent residents may avail themselves of the rights, freedoms, and protections of the Canadian laws as those who have exclusively granted to citizens.

A permanent resident can apply for Canadian citizenship after living in Canada for three years (1095 days) out of the five years. Once you have citizenship you can sponsor relatives for permanent residence, subject to fulfilling residence criteria and assurance of support requirements
