We have compiled the procedure / steps to be followed for applying Canadian PR. There is a basis question in everybody's mind that how to calculate the points for PR to Canada. We have tried to explain this process in very simple steps for easy understanding.
The total points calculated are based on your experience, education, spouse and English (IELTS).
Visit the CIC portal Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool: skilled immigrants (Express Entry), and if your points are above 450 then you have a fair chance of receiving your PR within 6–8 months.
The PR process goes somewhat like this:
- Find out if you’re eligible (link given above)
- Get your documents ready
- Submit your profile (intent to apply) with some basic paperwork
- You receive the ITA i.e. the Invitation to Apply
- After some intensive paperwork, you apply for the PR.
You either receive a provincial nomination from either of the 3 you chose in your application initially or you receive an umbrella PR and you can then choose which one you wish to take.

Now we wait for the magical email that says ‘request for passport’
After which it takes about 2 weeks to receive your passports stamped with a one time entry visa within 4 months - which is when you must land and declare yourself a landed immigrant.
